Investment In The Bank Of Me

WHEN I
, have the wonderful opportunity for conversations with friends and acquaintances, the conversation usually comes around to "how are things going with Tonya at Rock Solid?"  Answering, as I am want to do, with great excitement,  I describe the programs we're working on, and the results that I'm achieving.  Acknowledging my improved posture and positive attitude, they inevitably ask "well, how much does that cost?"

My answer is always the same; it depends on what you want to accomplish, what do you want your "journey" to look like?  Everybody's goals are different.  One size fits all doesn't work for pantyhose, and does not work here.  From there, I begin my personal "sermon."

I tell folks that I don't look at this as a cost, rather, I consider what I'm doing as an investment.  In me.  It isn't a selfish investment, far from it.  The benefits of my investment are shared with others.  More on that in a tad.  Of course, dollar bills change hands.  Tonya has made an investment in time and education, and that has great value that she should be paid for, right?  Right.

I have invested my time, talent and treasures in a lot of things in my 71 years.  Some profitable, others....not so much.  My boys, my education and my grandchildren are the first (very positive)  things that pop into mind.  At the same time, I am guilty of investing in those things which the Bible says are corruptible by "rust and moth."  Things that weren't good for me spiritually, emotionally or physically.  Zero long term value.

With all that, then what exactly am I investing my time, talent and treasures in?  Well, good health and all the attributes that are included therein.  I could invest in what I'm doing with Tonya, OR spend that money at the Urgent Care, ER or doctor's office.  OR, would I rather feel good enough to do make the yard look nice, go out on photo trips, or play on the floor with the grandchildren?  (Yes, I still do horsey-back rides.)  And that's what I was talking about above.  In this way, I am able to share the fruits of my investment with those people and things that I care about.

Let's be honest.  You're going to spend that money and time one way or another.  I humbly suggest that you invest in the bank of YOU.
